Access control & operations technology for buildings that don't keep hours

Your building has hours. Your customers don't.

Shades Creek Systems designs, integrates, and runs the technology that lets a building do business after the staff goes home — access control, cameras, bookings, payments, and the rules that tie them all together.

Inside Golffice — a members-only golf simulator suite, lit and running with no staff on site
GOLFFICE · HOMEWOOD, AL · UNMANNED SINCE DAY ONE
Case study · our own building

Golffice runs on this. So do its 2 AM tee times.

Golffice is our members-only golf simulator club — and the building where every rule on this site was wired, broken, and fixed first. Members book a bay, pay, and walk in at any hour. The door checks the reservation, the cameras bracket the session, and nobody is behind a desk.

It's not a demo. It's a running business we operate every day, which is why we design for the night shift instead of the brochure.

What we actually do

The lock doesn't know your business. We introduce them.

Access control vendors sell you a door that opens for a fob. Booking platforms sell you a calendar. Payment processors sell you a checkout page. Nobody sells the part in between — the rules that decide whether the door should open for this person, right now, based on what they've paid, signed, booked, or broken.

That's the layer we build. We're vendor-independent — we pick the right hardware and platforms for your building, connect them to the systems your business already runs on, and then manage the whole thing month after month so it keeps working at 2 AM without you.

The result isn't just fewer keys. It's revenue from hours you're currently locking out — memberships, rentals, bookings, and services you couldn't safely offer before, because offering them meant paying someone to stand there.

Rules we've actually wired
if reservation.paid unlock bay 4, 7–9 PM
if dues.past_due > 60d pause pool fob
if waiver.unsigned door stays shut, text parent the link
if lease.ended credentials expire at midnight
if renter.checkout lock up, clip cameras, release deposit
if door.fault @ 2AM wake us, not you
What's actually in the box

The stack, layer by layer.

Every building gets some mix of these. We design it, install it, wire it together, and — if you want — run it for you. No layer is required; the point is that they all speak to each other.

LAYER 01 · AT THE DOOR

Hardware

The physical stuff. Vendor-independent — we spec what fits your doors, not our margins.

  • Electrified locks, strikes & maglocks
  • Readers: fob, PIN, mobile credential
  • Gates & gate operators
  • Cameras, indoor & out
  • Video intercoms & buzz-in stations
  • Door position, motion & environmental sensors
LAYER 02 · IN THE CLOUD

Platforms

The software each piece answers to — chosen for your building, configured by us.

  • Cloud access control & credential management
  • Cloud video with retention & clip export
  • Booking & reservation systems
  • Membership, dues & payment platforms
  • Waivers & digital agreements
  • Network: WiFi, cabling, backup power & failover
LAYER 03 · IN BETWEEN

Rules

The part nobody else sells — the logic connecting what people paid, signed, or booked to whether the door opens.

  • Booking → access: reservations that unlock rooms
  • Payment → access: dues current, fob works
  • Waiver → access: no signature, no entry
  • Lease & roster sync: credentials start and end themselves
  • Camera bracketing: clips tied to bookings & deposits
  • Escalations: faults and prop-opens routed to the right phone
LAYER 04 · AFTER GO-LIVE

Operations

Systems drift. Somebody has to own that — we'd rather it be us than your weekend.

  • 24/7 monitoring & alert response
  • Remote unlocks, code changes & roster updates
  • Health checks: doors, cameras, network, batteries
  • Firmware, patching & vendor wrangling
  • Incident review with footage pulled for you
  • Quarterly rules review as your business changes
Design & installWe spec it and put it in, working with your electrician or ours.
IntegrateYou have the pieces; we build the rules layer that connects them.
RunMonthly managed service. The 2 AM call comes to us.
Speaks fluent API

The software your business already runs on? We wire to it.

A dozen of these run in our production systems today — not on a roadmap. The rest have proven, documented APIs we build against. If yours isn't here but has an API, it probably belongs on this list.

Who we help

Six kinds of buildings. One problem: the rules outgrew the locks.

Each timestamp below is a moment your building is earning nothing — or costing you a drive with a key. Here's what it could be doing instead.

5:04 AM

Gyms, Golf Sims, Training & Entertainment

Your members want in before work and after the game. Staffing every hour they'd pay for eats the margin — so the doors stay locked, and the revenue stays hypothetical.

What you could offer
  • True 24/7 membership tiers — with zero night payroll
  • Per-session access for coaches, their rosters, and parents
  • Waiver-gated entry: no signature, no door
See the full picture →
8:15 PM

HOA Developers & Communities

You spent seven figures on the amenity center, and it's governed by a box of unlabeled fobs and a gate code the whole county knows — while delinquent dues pile up with no enforcement tool short of a lien.

What you could offer
  • “24/7 amenity access” as a line in your sales brochure
  • Dues current → fob works. Sixty days behind → it doesn't
  • Hand the board a running system at turnover
See the full picture →
11:52 PM

Student Housing & Multifamily

It's finals week and your study rooms — the amenity on the brochure cover — locked when the leasing office did at six.

What you could offer
  • Bookable amenities that work at midnight
  • Every booking tied to an identity, every mess tied to a booking
  • A lease-up pitch your comps can't match
See the full picture →
SAT 2:00 PM

Churches & Faith Facilities

Your building sits empty 150 hours a week, yet somebody drives over with a key every time the flower guild, the Thursday group, or a renting congregation needs in.

What you could offer
  • Rent your empty hours — codes that only work during the booking
  • Retire every brass key without rekeying after departures
  • A children's wing that locks down on its own rules
See the full picture →
6:30 PM

Commercial Real Estate & Property Management

Every move-out is a re-keying scramble, every vacant suite showing is a drive across town, and the lease that ended March 31 is still opening doors in June.

What you could offer
  • Self-touring vacant suites — prospects walk themselves
  • Credentials that begin and end with the lease, automatically
  • Door data as occupancy intelligence for your owners
See the full picture →
12:00 PM

Wedding & Event Venues

Every tour is a forty-minute drive for a fifteen-minute walkthrough, and event day runs on one lockbox code shared by thirty vendors.

What you could offer
  • Self-guided tours all week — book more without hiring
  • The contract becomes the schedule: each vendor, their window
  • Camera-bracketed deposits — disputes end with a timestamp

Field-tested, not theoretical

We ran an unmanned business before we ever sold to one.

Shades Creek Systems grew out of building and operating the technology behind our own members-only, multi-location business — one that runs around the clock without front-desk staff. Payments, memberships, reservations, cameras, and doors, all answering to one set of business rules.

That means we've lived the part the brochures skip: the strike that didn't fire, the member who props the door, the network that drops at 1 AM with a customer standing outside. We don't just design for the happy path — we design for the night shift, because we've worked it.

What could your building do with its other sixteen hours?

Tell us about the building, the hours it keeps, and the hours your customers wish it kept. We'll answer honestly — and you'll be talking to the person who would design and run it, not a sales team.
